Family Support & Education

All insurances require Parent & Caregiver Training to occur. Here at FACT, we consider our Guardian / BCBA Consultation to be the modality through which we achieve this. This service is typically 1-3hrs per week and must include the parent/guardian of the client and the BCBA. The tech working with the client can participate as well. During these consultation meetings, the parent/guardian is advocating for needed skill development areas, informing of progress, requesting additional support if needed, and highlighting areas of strength. The BCBA utilizes this information to ensure the family’s needs, priorities, and interests are addressed and included in an effective treatment plan and ensure generalization of skills occurs.

Care Coordination

The primary goal of care coordination is to meet the unique needs of the individual and support the client as well as the family. Care coordination ensures that the client’s support network is implementing best practices and research based principles to better support the client in their environments. Collaboration ensures maintenance and generalization of the skills across individuals and environments

  • BCBAs organize client care with other participants to support the client’s overall treatment plan.
  • Communication with the family, support network, and other providers ensure a collaborative approach that best suits the client’s individual needs. Providers may include PCPs, Speech, OT, PT, and other related professionals.
  • Care coordination can address potential deficits that are not being met in certain areas and increase focus on the client’s strengths.
  • BCBAs can advocate for families during IEP meetings to address research based/most effective behavior reduction practices in the school setting.
  • BCBAs can meet with daycare providers to put supports in place to decrease maladaptive behaviors and increase positive social interactions with peers in the daycare setting.
